Hadrian's Villa
Wanted by Adrian the emperor,It was build in the 2th century , in a big area of 120 ha rich of water source,in 1999 declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site,one of the most places visited by tourists. This big complex is situated near Rome in Monti Tiburtini,reachable by both via tiburtina valeria and via prenestina or sealing Aniene river.
On this extended area 4 romans acquedotti brought water to all Roma (Anio vetus,anio novus,aqua marcia and aqua claudia.)
The favourite's one by emperor was the acque abule (Bagni di Tivoli) of sulphurous water.
The emperor Adriano wanted this villa to satisfy residential needs,he included in the construction elements bring by his travels; This glorious complex includes lakes,baths and temples.
One of first constructions that characterises this villa is the Marittimo theatre,made up by a circular portico
that appears on a canal where at the center there is an islet and a small mobile bridge that permitted the enter to the theatre.
Villa D'Este
A masterpiece of the italian renaissance and recognized by UNESCO, the construction wanted by cardinal Ippolito II D'Este,born in ferrara in 1509 son of Alfonso I and Lucrezia Borgia.
The pope Giulio III to thank for his contribution for the election to the papacy appointed him governor of Tivoli;Ippolito changed his convent in a Villa,place of relaxand of pleasant meetings.

In 1572 the works to set up the villa ended and the villa was inaugurated by pope Gregory XIII in september,the cardinal dead in december of the same year.
The other owners of the villa will be his nephews Luigi and Alessandro,while Cardinal Rinaldo D'Este (1641/1672) instructed Gian Lorenzo Bernini to build the famous Fontana del Bichierone and casta of fountain of Organ.The masterpiece is in Asburgo's hands; only after the 1°world war it will becomes property of the Italian state.
